Welcome to Discovering Deaf Worlds!

In the Fall of 2007, Christy Smith & Dave Justice began their travels around the world to meet with Deaf storytellers,community leaders, organizations, and youth from New Zealand, Australia, Japan, China, Thailand, India, Nepal, Kenya and more.

Our Plan:

Film the stories of Deaf people from around the world and draw exposure to the beauty and diversity of international sign languages.
Interview Deaf leaders and raise awareness on issues of communication access, Deaf education and job opportunities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing communities worldwide.
Report our travel adventures from a visual perspective (in multiple sign languages with English captions.)
Create possibilities for Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals, schools and organizations in need of adequate resources to achieve their goals.

The Discovering Deaf Worlds website will offer video blogs, photos and a monthly e-newsletter.
